The Breath

Today I’m bringing you an awesome “new” band from Manchester, England.
I say “new” because all of its members have been around for a while in the music scene.

The Breath was born out of Manchester’s fertile music scene they mix Irish folk influences with mesmerizing guitar riffs, anthemic themes and powerful hooks.

The Breath is Stuart McCallum (former guitarist of The Cinematic Orchestra), Irish singer Ríoghnach Connolly and McCallum’s fellow Cinematic alumni, pianist John Ellis and drummer Luke Flowers.

The Breath have their debut album “Carry your Kin” to be released on July 8th.
Look out for it on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc, it’s awesome.

Anyway, let’s have a sneak peek at a couple of tracks from the album

Ríoghnach’s voice, as always, soars in and around this beautiful song that comes from their new album. Track two to be pedantic.

The amazing harmonies on this track will bewitch your senses. Oh boy how happy am I with a new album from Ríoghnach Connolly and the rest of the band. If it wasn’t for the fact that they are digital recordings I would have worn out my earlier Ríoghnach Connolly albums.
This is only a sampler of the song, the real track is 6 minutes.
Boat Song

Recorded in Manchester and at Real World Studios and mixed by sound guru Tchad Blake.

If you want to see and hear more of Ríoghnach Connolly check her out on my old blog. Please ignore the “Content Warning”  if it is still there and click on through. There is nothing to earn that warning on the site.
