Julissa Ricart

Julissa Ricart is a very talented singer / songwriter / pianist who hails from Rhode Island. In addition she is a dab hand at making videos. Nowadays she hangs out in New York.

In her profile she says:
I am Julissa Ricart an Artist/Musician.
Songwriter, Music and Video Producer
A Fighter for FREEDOM and EQUALITY.
A Fan. Admirer of those who fight for their dreams
I want to make your heart beat faster and go where I go.

Well, one listen to her music and your heart will beat faster, if not then check your pulse. Julissa is one very exciting talent.

Enough of the verbiage, it’s time for the music.

This first track, is the first I heard from Julissa, her beautiful and stylish very different Amy Winehouse cover. Great song, great original singer, great cover.
Back To Black

Video Produced by Julissa Ricart. Guitar: Jorge Mateo

Check out this amazing self-made video of her original song.
A great song, very contemporary, She’s about a mover, I’m really surprised this never made it to the top of the charts.

Video Directed and Produced by Julissa Ricart
Music produced by Pablo Manavello

One of my favorite Lana del Rey songs and the young and beautiful Julissa Ricart with the amazing voice is singing it. Heaven. Another self-made video, a very very talented young lady that’s for sure.
Young and Beautiful

Video Produced by Julissa Ricart

A beautiful song by Julissa, sung as a duet with Jorge Mateo. Gotta love a song sung in one of the two or three romance languages. And they have fun at the end.
Adios Mi Corazon

So we close the video section with the first song Julissa wrote in Miami.
I don’t know if that means first song ever, but it is a beautiful song. And I just can’t get over the voice of Julissa Ricart, pure soulful beauty.

Finally today a few tracks to listen to for the rest of the day. Enjoy.

Elle Hollis

Elle Hollis is a very talented 20-year-old singer / songwriter who hails from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Yet another example of the talent that comes from this beautiful country,

For background here’s a quote from her bio:
Elle Hollis started working with music at a very young age. After performing in professional musicals in the Netherlands as well as Belgium, she started writing her own music and taught herself how to play the piano. With her music she makes a combination of piano and pop with a dreamy sound as a result (comparable to the vibes of Coldplay, Birdy, and Emeli Sandé). On her Youtube channel she created a large fanbase where she posts covers as well as original songs like “One Day”, “Hopeless” and “The Only Thing I Need”. She regularly performs at pop venues as Nieuwe Nor, Bosuil, Volt etc.

So let’s get to the music.

I don’t remember how I found Elle’s music, but this was the first song I heard and I was hooked.
True it is pop, but it is pure soul/pop with a wonderful song from a wonderful singer.
This is her latest release and should be on everybody’s playlist.
Every Day Every Night

Video directed and edited by: Cedric Letsch
MUA: Giovanna Dal Bom
Dancer: Klassic (@theklassical1)

This is sung in her native language (maybe, that’s my assumption) and although I don’t understand a word it is a beautiful sound to hear.

Zeg Dat Niet

Business Inquiries:

Here’s one of Elle’s original compositions, and amazing amount of depth in the song for a songwriter so young. Very simple with just the piano backing, but brilliant none the less.
The Only Thing I Need

Elle writes: New original song written and composed by me!
I wrote this song a long time ago, but I recently got the chance to record in the studio. This is the song with which I competed in the Kunstbende contest. I made it to the regional finals!

Another original song from the terrific talent of Elle Hollis.
I think the future is bright for young Elle, and I look forward to following her future taking over the pop world. It’s a wonderful world when all you need is a computer, a piano and some talent and you have your own recording studio.
I Lost

For someone so young I am impressed at the body of her work, quite a collection.

Finally today we go back a couple of years when Elle was only 18. Imagine that, and she totally nails this beautiful John Legend (one of my favorites I have to say) song, such a mature delivery. A true sign of an old soul. Just loving this.
All of Me

Decided to use a guitar version for this!

Natalie Forteza

Natalie Forteza is a wonderfully talented singer / songwriter who hails from Mahopac, New York. She has said that her genre is Pop/R&B but I think she goes so much farther beyond that, she truly soars with the jazz tinged feel of her vocals.
A beautiful voice with so much warmth to it.

Natalie Forteza‘s very tight combo are:
Akie Bermiss – Keys
Anthony Candullo – Bass
Erik Perez – Drums

It has to be a real treat to be sitting in some small club in New York listening to this young lady and her combo performing, oh well I can dream.

So enough of the verbiage, let’s get to the music. After all that’s why you came.

We’ll open up with a live performance at Studio 42 and in my humble opinion a much better version than the original. This young lady has the jazz chops to severely improve this song. She sings “I was cold” in a voice so warm it’s wonderful. Just awesome. Oh yeah, a very tight combo there.  I think I have found what I’m looking for.
I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

Here’s a great appearance on the “Live at Daryl’s House Club” .
Not the song I was expecting, but a beautiful song none the less.
This is an original song written by Natalie, a song she really displays her chops on. The combo tight as ever. Another brilliant song.
Man On The Moon

Recorded & Mixed by Peter Moshay
All Video by Gary Ljungquist

Here’s Natalie, again at Studio 42, singing a wonderful arrangement of the awesome Bob Marley classic. Very different vibe moved away from the reggae to the jazz.
