Illyin Pipes

Today we have a great new group, to me at least,  from the great frozen north, Toronto, Canada.
They are down tempo synth-pop duo, Illyin Pipes, and they’ve just released their second single, “Daylight Confidant’’ from their debut EP Spaces.

“Daylight Confidant” dropped three days ago on December 1st and don’t forget to look out for the debut Illyin Pipes EP Spaces, February 2018.

“The song was written after a blurry night spent consoling a friend who was falling apart, while masking my own breakdown.” Jill Harris (vocalist of Illyin Pipes).

This single has a beautiful ethereal sound to it, glistening synths and the warmly awesome sound of Jill Harris. You just sink back into it and enjoy your surroundings.

Daylight Confidant

I don’t know how I missed this, but this was the first single from Illyin Pipes about four months ago and it is absolutely spellbinding.
Along with the scenery there is so much to enjoy with this video, once again there are the awesome glistening synths and the beautiful voice. Their sound is so warm and beautiful I just want to sink back and luxuriate in it.

Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation

Today we have another treat for you, some simply amazing sounds.

Taking their moniker from the notion of ‘Liberation Upon Hearing In The Between’ from the Tibetan Book Of The Dead, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation took little time to make their mark on the wider world, brandishing a radiant sound that stands effortlessly apart from the increasingly staid and often paradoxically predictable world of modern psychedelia.

Josefin Öhrn is another of those beautiful young ladies with awesome pipes who hail from Sweden. It’s the water I tell you, the water.

Currently you could find Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation in any country in Europe, they are touring extensively. And they are just releasing their new album “Mirage”, which is dropping officially on October 14. This is an album you don’t just hear, you feel it, it enters your body.

OK, enough of that, let’s get to the music.

Amazing awesome hypnotic sounds, with that beautiful voice over the top of it. I could have this on repeat all day. This is from their brilliant album Mirage.

Let’s take a little train ride, a wonderful perfect beat for the ride. And of course we have the beautiful sound of Josefin’s voice. The track is from an earlier album “Horse Dance”. Loving the trippy video.

Another track from “Horse Dance”, and this one really rocks on.
The beautiful Josefin as ever in fine voice. And some amazing video trickery.

Let’s get back to the new album, Mirage. If this is the single edit, I can’t wait to get a hold of the album to hear the full version. Another hypnotic piece.

I just had to include this awesome live performance @ Orange Blossom Special 20 back in May this year. Still a train ride albeit a windy one.
OBS is held annually in Beverungen, which is a tiny little town deep in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Germany. Which does not explain the wind, I guess you had to be there. It’s great to be able to compare live versions to recorded ones.

I’ll leave you with this slice of their live performance @ Eindhoven Psych Lab 2016 earlier this year. A big thank you to 35007ed for the upload.

The Living Gods Of Haiti

Today, Paris-based conceptual artist and poet, The Living Gods Of Haiti (Rebekah Dobbins) release their new record Bone Dry. The album aims to address themes of explosive lust, primal desire, exposure, tenderness, and awakening. Rebekah notes, “‘Bone Dry’ is an organic journey through the divine nature of the mind, in search of an elevated consciousness; beauty between darkness and light”

Originally conceived as a spoken word project by singer, poet and visual artist Rebekah Dobbins, the word became flesh when Rebekah, then working in Los Angeles, reached out to former collaborator, Parisian producer Marc Collins (Nouvelle Vague, Yasmine Hamdan).

I’m so glad they went for the musical side of it, this is truly an amazing album and Rebekah has such an amazing voice. I’m sure her spoken word voice would be wonderful, but she has such a beautiful singing voice it would be a crime to stifle it.

OK, got the intro done. Let’s get to the amazing music.

I love this first one, it’s from her previous album “Run Back To Never” (another gem).
Brilliant video, striking tribal percussion, beautiful vocals what more can you ask for from a music video. Oh and also a new way to mine pearls.

Move over Busby Berkeley. Oh boy do I love the music The Living Gods Of Haiti makes. This is the title track from their current album, just awesome.

No video, boo hoo, just the wonderful amazing sounds of The Living Gods Of Haiti. This is the new release today, mentioned in the opening. I don’t think I can really express how good their album ‘Killing Lotus’ really is. It’s phuking amazing, not to mention awesome and event gargantuan.
