Mikol Frachey

Today we meet an eighteen year old singer/songwriter from Italy.
Meet Mikol Frachey who surprisingly enough, to me at least, is a an artist in the country/Americana genre. Who knew they liked country in Italy.
Mikol has already been to her dream-town, Nashville, twice in recent years and even performed there at the Bridgestone Arena.

I don’t have too much more information, since my Italian is non-existent.  So we’ll get straight to the music, the good stuff.

A beautiful song, beautifully sung by this dark-eyed beauty. I don’t know if this young lady is a big star in Italy, but she sure should be. A well made video, cute story line.

Live di Mikol Frachey in Piazza Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto, Saint-Vincent. Who’d a thunk you would find a lovely young Italian lady singing Americana songs in Italy, in English. Very impressive, I’m liking her vibe.

Here’s another from that same night in Saint-Vincent. I’m not sure if it is an original, if it is then well done Mikol. Either way well done, because it is a very cool performance.

And just because I like to see the contrast between the filmed video and the live performance, and also because it is such a great tune.
Let’s check out Mikol doing the same song I opened with, live @ Domianaz (Châtillon) Pekelin Strong Music Festival.

Jordyn Pepper

OK, this is just a quickie update on one of our favorite young ladies.
She was here not too long ago.
The wonderful Jordyn Pepper.
The joy that keeps on giving, her talent is non-ending.

I heard this today and had to share it.
A takeaway show, shot in the woods of Tennessee.
A beautiful cover of a Jewel classic.
Jordyn takes it and makes it her own.

Today a great voice from north of the border, meet Lucette who hails from Edmonton, Alberta. Lucette is a beautiful singer / songwriter with a haunting voice you will never forget.
Lucette wrote and recorded her album “Black Is The Color” in under a month, and a brilliant album it is.

2014 saw Lucette taking to the road and touring more than ever before. She was direct support on Sturgill Simpson’s nearly sold-out fall tour and toured or performed with artists such as Nikki Lane, The Secret Sisters, Joe Ely, Jim Lauderdale and Mason Jennings, among others.

In 2015, Lucette made her SXSW debut in Austin with 5 performances, joined Mason Jennings on two runs of shows, toured with Joe Ely and played the Calgary Folk Music Festival, Edmonton’s Interstellar Rodeo and Nashville’s AmericanaFest. 2016 has seen her back on the road for tours with David Ramirez and Alejandro Escovedo.

She mixes with some heady company, would have loved to see her with Alejandro Escovedo and Sturgill Simpson. Two outstanding talents, as is Lucette.

So, let’s get to the music.

A deliciously dark little piece which serves as a warning regarding scorned women, be careful. Featuring Sturgill Simpson & JD Wilkes.

This young lady owns the deliciously dark genre, if there is one.
“I wrote him a letter just a few short lines. And suffer death ten thousand times”. Told ya, dark. But beautiful. I just love it.

A very beautiful vocal and piano rendering of another track from her debut album, “Black Is the Color”. btw: If you don’t have her album, why?

As part of their live sessions series at SXSW, Canadian artist Lucette joined them at their pop up venue to perform a special acoustic version of her track “Able May”. The track, which pours out a beautiful flavor of Americana, comes off her debut record “Black Is the Color”.
And what a beautiful performance it is, the full warmth of Lucette’s voice is exposed here. Love it.
