MOZART HEROES

And we’re back.

The blog has been quite for a while, I was indisposed elsewhere. Hopefully I can now get back to a more regular series of updates.

OK, so when I was searching for something else I came across this awesome duo. If you are a regular you will know my penchant for stringed instruments, in particular guitars, cellos and violins. So here we go two out of three ain’t bad.
Then take another penchant of mine, classical / rock crossover.

So meet MOZART HEROES, Chris Krebs (Violoncello) and Phil Seeholzer (guitar) and they hail from Lucerne, Switzerland. And they play like the devil is on their ass. This is some amazing kick ass rock n roll.

Now this is the first track that put me in their realm. An awesome blending o

f Mozart and Metallica. I love the way that this track starts of in such a genteel manner, albeit a tad faster than one would expect. And then the fury erupts.
Kick back and enjoy.

You start of with a beautiful arrangement of La Catedral, and then of course you get Thunderstruck. The AC/DC piece has long been a favorite, and was even more so when friends of ours got married and the grooms 85 year old father escorted the bride down the isle to the sound of Thunderstruck. Awesome event, as is this video.

The biggest problem as I wonder through their repertoire is what to include and what to leave out. I couldn’t leave this out being a big James Bond fan as well as a huge fan of Adele. This is a bit more gentle.

I’m a sucker for everything “Game of Thrones”, especially the theme tune. I sit through it for every episode even though it is on DVR and I could fast forward to the action. This is an awesome mesh of Suite No 1, G Major and the main theme from GOT. Got it? Enjoy it.

We’ll have to make this the last of the day. And what a gem, a straight up rendering of Vivaldi, and i love me some Vivaldi. This is from a live appearance in the Stadtkeller, Lucerne (CH). And what an awesome way to leave them.
Bravo!!!

Beatrix Players

The Beatrix Players are an amazing trio from London who make simply beautiful music, they hail from Stoke, Melbourne & Madrid.

As an intro let me borrow a bit from their official bio.
Beatrix Players are a London-based all-female trio who make florid, adventurous music that operates at the interface between folk, singer-songwriter acoustica, prog and quasi-classical baroque chamber pop. There is a light, translucent quality to the music, and yet when it is not being hushed and reverent, it has the attack and thrust, the surging dynamism, of rock. It can be soft and intimate, but it can also be fiery and intense, epic and immense. There are tempestuous passages in their music that you can imagine being delivered by traditional rock instrumentation but it is the very absence of guitars and drums that means that there is nobody out there quite like Beatrix Players

Beatrix Players are
Amanda Alvarez (cello) from Madrid, with an Australian mother
Jess Kennedy (piano, backing vocals) from Melbourne
Amy Birks (lead and backing vocals) hails from Stoke-on-Trent

They all met in London and created a masterpiece called the Beatrix Players. Yesterday they released a masterpiece, their new album Magnified.

So, shall be listen to some of their wonderful music, you know that’s why you came.

First up the brilliant first track from the album, this is an introverted ethereal awesome piece of music by any standard. So sit back and just let it flow over you. Also enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this beautiful video.

Another awesome live performance, this time the trio is augmented by some friends [?] who between them produce a powerful piece. Every song I hear just blows me away a little bit more, I think maybe Beatrix Players are fast on their way to becoming one of my favorite groups.

I think this one was their first single from the album. A beautifully crafted song, that swirling piano driving the whole piece. Warning if you find clown puppets scary watch/listen with your eyes closed.

Nilüfer Yanya

Nilüfer Yanya is a very talented English singer-songwriter who has made music since she began playing classical piano at age six. After the piano Nilüfer learned cello, then guitar, before beginning singing and songwriting when she entered secondary school.
She was born and raised in London, not sure which part, but that’s good enough. All the best folk hail from London.

One can never start too early I guess, and the talent really shines through on the few songs I have heard so far. I’m predicting this young lady will go far.

OK, so we’re here for the music right. Let’s get to it, you’re gonna enjoy it.

Odd video, but what a beautiful vocal for this cool song. I don’t think she’s really the gangster she is portraying here. All in all a great time was had by one and all.
Small Crimes

Directed by Molly Daniel & Patrick Chamberlain.

Check out Nilüfer Yanya giving her own soul-inflected take on The Pixies’ ‘Hey’, alongside sax accompaniment from Jazzi. An awesome piece.
Hey

You can find this track on a Deek Recordings UK mix of artists titled Extraordinary Renditions.

Another beautiful recording, so much feeling in here, complete with a jazzy feel.
Such a cool groove. Something to just kick back and enjoy. I am totally in love with her voice.
Keep On Calling

Director of photography: Joseph Gainsborough.

And finally today Nilüfer at her very best, on stage, jamming.

Nilüfer Yanya live and wonderful @ The Old Blue Last – London on Monday 9th May 2016. Rocking out with her cool voice and brilliant guitar picking. Sorry I didn’t catch the title but a great song.

It wasn’t like this when I lived in the area.
