Jade Helliwell

We have a real treat today, meet 25-year-old Jade Helliwell, a very talented singer / songwriter from Batley, West Yorkshire in England.

I’ll let her tell a little about herself:
Growing up listening to many styles of music, Jade always seemed to gravitate back to country music. She explains, “Like any young person I loved the latest chart music and I’ve been infatuated by my fair share of boy bands and girl power, but it was always country music that drove me to sing at the top of voice into my hairbrush microphones. First the old country greats like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, then later artists such as Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum and, of course, Taylor Swift”. Jade takes all of these great artists as influence, and uses them to shape her own style. But where they had the vibrant, music immersed streets of Nashville as a backdrop, Jade has the small working class towns of Yorkshire as hers. This was the influence behind her first EP release in 2012, Urban Life, Country Heart.

I first became aware of Jade Helliwell when my cousin, thanks Ian, put up a video on his FB page of a young lady who was on a night out in Leeds and she came across a street busker and asked if she could sing with him. The result was amazing. Everybody and their uncle has sung Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen, by now. But this was an eye-opening version, just look at the guy’s face, he was amazed. He has a good voice too, he is Dawid Osial, so maybe try to find some more of his music on YouTube. The whole thing has become something of a sensation, getting pieces in all the tabloids in the UK. Where they are saying people want them to go on Britain’s Got Talent, my one word of advice, Don’t. Meanwhile just kick back and enjoy the ride.

Jade was on a night out in Leeds and she saw a busker, she goes over and asks if she can have a sing…

So let’s take a wander around the music catalog of Jade Helliwell, there’s some gems in here I can promise you.

Such a nice catch in her voice, this is Jade recording one of the songs from her most recent EP “Forget the night”. This is one young lady who could be going places. A really great song with an amazing singer.
Ask Me To Stay

Jade Helliwell has teamed up with producer Justin Johnson ( to deliver her new song ‘Ask Me To Stay’ taken from her new EP ‘Forget The Night’.
Recorded at 80 Hertz studio in Manchester and Parr Street Studios in Liverpool.
Recorded with some incredibly talented musicians from across the UK this is a studio video, giving an insight into the creation of the EP.

Here’s a truly poignant little song wherein Jade makes you feel every part of her broken heart. Truly beautiful and heartfelt.
For Someone Else

This is a music video shot by film maker Danny Lacey for Jade’s song ‘For someone else’ from her EP ‘Urban life, Country heart’

For something completely different here is Jade covering “I wish I was a punkrocker” by Sandi Thom live at Abbey Road. Just Jade and her guitar, such a spirited performance. This is from a few years back, but still the talent shines through.
I wish I was a punkrocker

Don’t worry Jade, you’re so much better than a punk rocker.

Gonna close with another original song, this is a Fiasco Presents production. Jade was @ Loom Studios, Leeds for this powerful performance. Some singer, some song, wow.

OK, so I lied, again. Here’s one more from the Fiasco Presents session. This one’s a cover of a Sam Smith song, and I have to be honest I had my doubts on viewing this since I’m not a Sam Smith fan. But this is a great song and I think Jade does a better version of it. Her vibrato and the crack in her voice make this something else. Altogether totally worth the listen. I’m lovin’ her voice.

Chrissy Chase

Chrissy Chase is a very talented singer / songwriter whose hometown is Orlando, Florida. She currently is based out of Washington DC or Savannah, Georgia depending on which part of her bio you want to believe. Chrissy is way beyond just being a singer / songwriter.
Between writing, recording, continued TV placements, a successful publishing company, and performing, Chrissy has finally found herself in a place that was meant to be. As for me I’m just happy to have found her talent, and to have some of her music in my life.

So are we ready to hear some of her music? You betcha.

I first found Chrissy and her music because of a Google search, a friend mentioned on FB that he had never heard of a song about pear-blossom and despite the fact that it was prettier than apple-blossom it was apple-blossom that had the song.
This song was written by Steve Hodak for his friend Chrissy Chase, and all I can say Steve is thanks very much for a beautiful song and via it introducing me to the wonderful talent of Chrissy Chase.
Pearblossom Road

It’s very brave to cover an Elvis song, because you know you are gonna be compared whatever. But when you have a voice as clear as a bell, like the lovely Chrissy does then you have an advantage. This is one beautiful cover.
Can’t Help Falling in Love

Finally today a tender, quiet ballad. Something for a lazy afternoon. Relax and let it roll over you.
Meant For Me

Jenni Dale Lord

Today we feature a beautiful and very talented singer / songwriter from Lubbock, Texas.
She is a purveyor of Americana, Alt-Country with a dash of rock n roll and a splash of soul. Anyone who includes in her influences Johnny Cash and Nina Simone has to have soul and pizzazz. And Jenni Dale Lord certainly has all that and then some.

Jenni Dale Lord rocked the “live music capital of the world,” Austin, Texas, for over a decade, but has since returned to her roots in Lubbock to claim her place in the West Texas music scene. After years of writing music on her own, Jenni Dale rounded up a group of amazing musicians to take her songs and set them on fire. They have exploded in the area and have taken their high energy and heart-string pulling show on the road.

The Jenni Dale Lord Band are:-
Jenni Dale Lord – vocals, acoustic guitar
Steve Lott – electric/resonator lead guitars, vocals
Andrew Mason – bass guitar, vocals
Randy Moreno – drums

So now we know a little about her let’s get to the music. Let’s take a little trek around her catalog, the hardest part is deciding what to leave out.

This is Jenni’s latest video, hot off the presses so to speak. A beautiful soulful country ballad about a country girl going home. Some wonderful guitar work and the awesome voice of Jenni Dale Lord make this a song/video to take note off. So gentle yet so meaningful.
Someone to Believe

Official music video of Jenni Dale Lord Band’s hit song, “Someone to Believe.”

Jenni Dale Lord performs on Good Day Lubbock, the birthplace of Buddy Holly.
One of the few musical places in the states I have never been to, oh well one day.
Anyway this is a nice gentle tune about an idea that really appeals to me.
Totally cool, love it.
Free Whiskey

Good Day Lubbock

Another beautiful tune from Jenni, and her friend. Such purity of tone both vocally and the guitars. Listening to this I’m aching to be back there again, wherever it is. I’m really digging her complete album.
Back There Again

Originally a sneak peek from the #FreeWhiskey album released in 2016.

This song truly give one a feeling of small town living, maybe it’s the video, but the song says it all. I can relate having lived in and around small towns in Indiana back in the 80’s.
In This Town

Second single from “Never Let Go.”

We’re gonna end on a terrific live performance from a few years back. Another great song and some great guitar. As I’ve wandered through these videos I’m more than impressed by her guitar playing, if she didn’t have such an awesome voice she could still make it on her guitar playing alone. Enjoy.
