Creep

Creep by Radiohead, a truly beautiful song and pretty much all of the covers are better than the Radiohead version. That is not said as a knock on Radiohead, it’s just that the song is so good.

Well I’m back on my obsession with this beautiful song. At the bottom of the page you’ll find some links to hear more of my obsession.

So no real words needed, we just have to get to the music.

An awesome version by Brandi from an amazing concert.

Then there’s this unforgetable version from the then 17 year old Jena, one of Idol’s best graduates.
Jena Irene

A very sensitive version by a young lady who’s work I don’t know. I’ll have to resolve that problem. Love the soaring voice in the chorus.

Looks like maybe this one will stick around, unlike the various other versions I had featured in the past.

This is a truly beautiful version by the very talented Carrie. And just wait for the power section of this awesome song, the build up is fucking amazing. Wow!!!!
Carrie Manolakos

Another amazing version, a very different version I have to say.
A very powerful version.
KSHMR

The singer asked not to be featured but she’s incredibly talented and all my respect to her. Thanks for listening  KSHMR

This one is special. So fucking special. So very special. Wow!

So here’s some of the Creep posts on the old blog.
This one if from April 2015 and features
Jim Carrey, Kelly Clarkson, Haley Reinhart and Vintage Postmodern Jukebox, and Michelle Branch.
This is the second part from April 2015 and features

And finally one of my first Creep posts from 2008 featuring

Kree Harrison

kree1

We all remember Kree Harrison from her days on Idol. At the time I was sure that there was a big future for her.

Kree Harrison hails from Port Arthur, Texas, U.S. The birthplace of another awesome lady singer, I’m sure you may have heard of her Janis Joplin.
Maybe there is something in the water of Port Arthur that produces phenomenal singers.

Well here we go with the next step in her career, her new album “This Old Thing”.

And from what I’ve heard of it so far, it’s a beaut.

I know, let’s get to the music.

First up an acoustic version of the title track from the new album.
Kree’s voice as always phenominal.
This Old Thing – Acoustic Performance

kree2

This next song is not on the album, but a wonderful cover of the song Prince wrote for Sinéad O’Connor. Kree’s voice here is just beautiful, and the feeling is just beautifully plaintive.

Nothing Compares 2 U

kree3

Here we have Kree Harrison and Keith Urban playing live at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, producing an awesome version of the Kris Kristofferson classic.

Help Me Make It Through The Night

kree4

This dang song is so good, gotta play the official release version.

Finally today one of my favorites of the album, this is a live version.  The only other info as to where it was is that it was recorded in Orange, TX 5/21/16.  It is obviously recorded on a smart phone, good sound quality.

Allison Iraheta + Halo Circus

allison_1

I’m sure you all know Allison Iraheta who was the fourth place finalist on the eighth season of American Idol when she was only 16. She hails from LA.
I thought she was a great contestant and a wonderful singer, also thought that season eight was messed up. The final should have been between Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert.

Enough reminiscing, Allison now fronts a great group – Halo Circus.
The band consists of Iraheta (vocals), Matthew Hager (bass, keyboards), David Immerman (guitars) and Valerie Franco (drums).

And they lay down a great groove.

OK, let’s get to the music.

A throbbing drumbeat and a deep dark delicious vocal, what’s not to love about this song. And then it gets louder and stronger. Allison we knew you were good, but this good? Wow what a voice. And what a version.

Allison here in full-throated vocal style, wandering through the streets of LA. A powerful song about desire, and we all know about desire.
Loving this song.
Desire (Lo Que Vale La Pena)

Shot guerilla-style on the streets of Los Angeles, music video icon Nick Egan (Duran Duran, The Clash, INXS, Oasis) reveals a stunning and colorful presentation of “Desire (Lo Que Vale La Pena)”. Translated from Spanish, the song title means “what it all comes down to is desire” and “Desire” reflects strongly on Allison’s Salvadoran background (the song features a sample of Oscar Romero) and growing up in South Central Los Angeles. Egan latches on to the intention of the song and surrounds Allison in a world of incredible art. Using the historic murals in Rowena Gardens and Boyle Heights and the street art of downtown L.A. as the backdrop.

Please don’t go Allison, we want more music. A terrific track and the guys are laying down a very tight backing. Another great track from this amazing group.
