Mississippi Jones

As mentioned before on my old blog, links below, Mississippi Jones is a duo of Mississippi Jones and J@$. J@$ seems like a nice guy, but a bit retiring. They hail from the music hub of Seattle.

Well Mississippi Jones have a new album to be released September 6, 2016. And it sounds like a doozy, and you can listen to it right here. Then I expect you to follow the link and buy your own version. This album certainly stands up to the first, and maybe even surpasses it. Personally, I dig it. It’s a whole heaving heap of electronic proto-punk soul, and I mean that in the nicest way.

Continuum: II

This is the third track from that album, this was the initial version of the song from Mississippi. I think it cool to see the artistic progression a song goes through.
I also love the fact that you hear her voice in its purest form.

Something else to keep you going until you get that album.
This is a cute video, not sure what she has on her fingers.
This was their NPR Tiny Desk contest entry made with Google+ Hangout video. Definitely different, and totally cool.
Bring To Me

We’ll finish up with the fourth track from the album,  in its primeval version. Compare the two versions. Again I’m in love with both versions.
After the song Mississippi gives some background to the artistic evolution.
Away Away

As promised the links for Mississippi Jones on the old blog, as always please ignore the “Content Warning”. Nothing untoward there. One day Blogger will relieve me from this bloody warning.

Bebe Rexha

Bebe Rexha is a very talented singer, songwriter and record producer.
Bebe co-wrote the number-one US Billboard Hot 100 song “The Monster” by Eminem featuring Rihanna. So you know she’s no slouch at penning good tunes.

As well as being a vocalist she plays guitar, piano and trumpet. Say what? Trumpet, very unusual for a young lady.
Oh by the way, did I mention she’s cute?

Anyhow, let’s get to the music.

We’ll start of with one of her best known songs, which features Nicki Minaj (I never thought those two words would appear here).
This is a well produced very slick video. Enjoy.
No Broken Hearts

With a family like that I’d show you crazy too.
A well written song which I’m sure many of our younger people can relate to. But really, some parents need to listen closely.
I’m really digging this one, its destined to be on my playlist for a long while.
I’m Gonna Show You Crazy

Another, very mature, and great song from Bebe. With a cute twist on the standard phrase. I’m sure many people go from thinking to drinking, it’s the most used crutch I’m sure. The more I think about the thinking / drinking thing I’m simply amazed nobody did it before.
Musically well put together, and Bebe’s vocals brilliant as ever. Another to be permanent favorite in the Bear playlist.
I Can’t Stop Drinking About You

Earlier this year Bebe Rexha performed “Hey Mama” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I never saw that episode, my bad. I’m betting Jimmy loved the shiny pants. A very spirited performance. Bebe seems to be a favorite of Jimmy, she’s been on his show more than once.
Hey Mama

Bebe Rexha gives a live performance On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
Another name I never thought I would mention on this site.
But this is a very interesting performance. This young lady can do great things with her voice, much more versatile than her regular videos show.
Watch as singer Bebe Rexha performs an acoustic version of her song “Monster Under My Bed,” made famous by Eminem and Rihanna.
Monster Under My Bed

Finally, this is cool. She won’t be able to do this in the near future. The paps will smother her and the fans will mob her.
Who is Bebe Rexha?

Chance and the Lucky Aces

Five years ago I featured their song “I shot a Frenchman at Agincourt” on the old blog. They’re back ! ☺
I did warn you at the time that Chance and the Lucky Aces would be releasing an EP, seems they’ve finally done it. Not the most prolific of bands, but I did hear they have a problem getting out of bed.  ☺ I know from trying to find any, that it is difficult getting them all into the same photo.

I also heard that getting them together for rehearsals was a lot like herding kittens. ☺

The current lineup for these Leeds rockers is:
Lead Vocals: Chance
Guitar: David Maguire
Bass: Eddie Young
Drums: Brian Madigan

The EP by the way is called “Breakfast With Chance and the Lucky Aces”.

So why are they here you ask, as did I. errrmm Oh yes, they have a new single from that EP that’s kind of awesome.

This song will ruin everything. I’m sure there is something about 9 months and babies in there,  ☺  but then again I could be wrong.

Anyhow, it’s a rollicking rocking little number, and the video is sort of interesting. ☺  You’re gonna love it, and you need to buy the EP otherwise they will run out of supplies (beer).

Enjoy the rocking rolling essence that is Chance and the Lucky Aces.
