Today is another treat.
Meet Highland Kites, who are Marissa Lamar (vocals and keyboards) and Neil Briggs (Drummer).
Highland Kites’ confessional anti-folk could easily be misconstrued as indie rock. With their angular grooves, new wave leanings and sharp-witted lyrics, the LA-based twosome exude an off-the-cuff coolness that is effortlessly backed by a hard-earned substance.
It could also be classified in the shoe-gaze genre with their jangling guitars and the etherial sound of Marissa’s voice.
Their new EP, Let Me Run, produced by Raymond Richards (Local Natives) is out July 22nd keep an eye out for it.
Here’s a track from it to whet your whistle.
The War Inside
Here’s a great song from a little while back, complete with some kite flying video. More shimmering guitar.
This here is another of their songs I’m digging.
Complete with video of their recent Pacific Northwest Tour.
So short and sweet.
I Don’t Blame You
We’ll finish up with this little gem, this band is really growing on me. I’m really looking forward to the release of “Let Me Run”.
The drum build up here is pretty awesome.
